Jill Markgraf has been named director of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's McIntyre Library following a national search.
"During the interview process, Jill clearly demonstrated that she possesses the vision, knowledge and experience to be an outstanding leader for the unit," said Michael Carney, UW-Eau Claire associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, in an email statement to faculty and staff.
Markgraf served as interim director of McIntyre Library since the departure of John Pollitz in March 2017, and she brings considerable experience in strategic and curricular planning, library administration, and budgetary and personnel management to the permanent director role. Previously she served as the library’s head of research and instruction and was instrumental in refining the library’s information literacy curriculum and in redesigning its reference desk into a modern, collaborative research center. Markgraf’s leadership of the library will be complemented by her continued involvement and leadership within the Council of University of Wisconsin Libraries and through her numerous connections to colleagues within the UW System.
Prior to joining UW-Eau Claire in 1998, Markgraf held librarian positions at the University of Florida, the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Michigan Technological University. She holds a master of arts degree in library and information studies from UW-Madison.
