Blugold prof previews new data science master's program

Big data. It's everywhere. How do we make the most of it to solve important problems AND keep it secure?

Enter the new UW Master of Science in Data Science program.

In June 2015, UW-Eau Claire announced it is one of six UW System campuses collaborating to offer this new master's degree. The online program, which begins in September, is coordinated by the UW-Extension with instructors from six UW campuses including Eau Claire, Green Bay, La Crosse, Oshkosh, Stevens Point and Superior.

Dr. Alex Smith, chair of UW-Eau Claire's math department and academic director of the new UW master's program, recently was interviewed about this unique program and the future impact of data science.
