UW-Eau Claire construction update: Sept. 1, 2018

The following is an overview of work completed since Aug. 1, 2018, and expected in the next 30 days on UW-Eau Claire construction projects.

Work completed since Aug. 1, 2018

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Continued grading, irrigation installation and landscaping of project site.
  • Final layer of asphalt in turn area at end of Roosevelt Avenue.
  • Concrete work in corridor between Hibbard Hall and Zorn/Brewer/Kjer complex.
  • Brick pavers installation in corridor between Hibbard Hall and Zorn/Brewer/Kjer complex.
  • Continued handrail installation along sidewalk next to river.
  • Gate installation at base of Garfield Avenue hill.

Marilyn Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • First-floor plumbing fixture installations.
  • Landscaping on south side of tower.
  • New roof installation.
  • Carpet installation first-floor lobby area.
  • New furniture moved into student rooms.
  • Painted penthouse exterior.
  • Wi-Fi lock installations on student room doors.
  • Stone veneer installation on new entryway exterior.
  • Skylight installation in new entryway.

David Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Began asbestos abatement on floors 10 and 9.
  • Demolition of bathrooms/center section on floor 10, began on 9 and 8.
  • Continued removing exterior brick façade where new lounge windows will be installed.

New residence hall

  • Installed block walls on floor 4.
  • Started installing precast concrete floors on floor 5.
  • Continued work on electrical and plumbing piping.
  • Completed resurfacing of Governors parking lot needed following utility tie-in installation.
  • Continued installing steel studs on lower floors.

Work to be completed in next 30 days

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Complete final landscaping.
  • Remove construction fencing as landscaping is completed.
  • Complete handrail installation along sidewalk next to river.

Marilyn Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Install blinds in all rooms.

David Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Continue asbestos abatement on floors 10 and 9, begin on floors 8 and 7.
  • Continue demolition of bathrooms/center section on floor 10.
  • Continue removing exterior brick façade where new lounge windows will be installed.

New residence hall
