UW-Eau Claire construction update: Feb. 1, 2018

The following is an overview of work completed since Dec. 1, 2017 and expected in the next 30 days on UW-Eau Claire construction projects.

Work completed since Dec. 1, 2017

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

On hold until spring 2018.

Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation

  • Asbestos abatement on floors 4-10.
  • Bathrooms demolition on floors 4-10.
  • Demolition of basement and lobby.
  • Exterior brick removal on floors 3-10 where new student lounge windows will be installed.
  • Continued rough electrical work in student rooms.
  • Continued painting in student rooms.
  • Plumbing rough-ins on floors 9 and 10.
  • Began installation of first-floor stud walls.
  • Set steel for penthouse addition (to hold new HVAC unit).

New residence hall

  • Installed fencing around project staging area in Governors parking lot.

Confluence Arts Center

Work to be completed in next 30 days

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

On hold until spring 2018.

Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation

  • Continue plumbing rough-ins on floors 1-8.
  • Continue rough electrical work in student rooms.
  • Continue painting in student rooms.
  • Construct penthouse addition (to hold new HVAC unit).
  • Continue installing first-floor stud walls.
  • Install rough electrical on first floor.
  • Begin drywall installation in common areas on floors 9 and 10.
  • Install first of two new elevators.
  • Continue exterior brick removal on floors 1 and 2 where new student lounge windows will be installed.

New residence hall

  • Install construction site fencing.
  • Remove designated trees from construction site.
  • Move job trailers onto site.

Confluence Arts Center
