UW-Eau Claire construction update: Dec. 1, 2018

The following is an overview of work completed since Oct. 1, 2018, and expected in the next 60 days on UW-Eau Claire construction projects.

Work completed since Oct. 1, 2018

David Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • New windows installation.
  • Asbestos abatement completed on floors 6 through 3.
  • Demolition of bathrooms/center section on floors 8 through 4.
  • Continued exterior brick façade removal where new lounge windows will be installed (finished through floor 5).
  • Drywall installation started beginning on floor 10.
  • Masonry construction of bathroom walls completed on floors 10 through 7.
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins completed on floors 10 through 7.

New residence hall

  • Completed block wall construction on all floors.
  • Installed stairwells.
  • Completed precast concrete floors on all levels.
  • Completed electrical rough-ins on floors 1 and 2, began on floor 3.
  • Completed plumbing roughins on floors 1 through 3, began on floors 4 and 5.
  • Continued installing steel studs through floor 5.
  • Installed drywall on floors 1 and 2.
  • Began roof construction.
  • Began exterior brick installation on building's northwest corner and around entryways.

Work to be completed in next 60 days

  • Complete asbestos abatement on remaining floors.
  • Complete demolition of bathrooms/center section on all floors.
  • Complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins on floors 6 through 3.
  • Complete masonry construction of bathroom walls on floors 6 through 3.
  • Complete drywall installation on floors 10 through 6.

New residence hall

  • Complete roof construction.
  • Complete drywall installation on floors 3 through 5.
  • Complete electrical and plumbing rough-ins through floor 6.
  • Begin interior painting.
  • Complete steel studs installation.
  • Continue exterior brick installation on building's west side.
