UW-Eau Claire construction update: Aug. 1, 2019

The following is an overview of work completed since June 1, 2019, and expected in the next 60 days on UW-Eau Claire construction projects.

Work completed since June 1, 2019

David Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Continued hall director apartment reconstruction.
  • Began landscaping in north courtyard outside new entrance.
  • Installation of bathroom partitions on floors 3 and 2 (all floors completed).
  • Ceiling grid and carpet installation on floor 1 and in basement (all floors completed).
  • Started furniture move-in to student rooms and lounges.

Marilyn Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Continued hall director apartment reconstruction.

New residence hall

  • Interior painting on all floors except first floor.
  • Installation of windows and exterior metal panels.
  • Installation of exterior concrete benches on north side.
  • Mechanical/electrical/plumbing finishes on all floors except first floor.

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Continued testing and repairs of irrigation system.
  • Partially completed replacement of cracked concrete panels and installation of additional brick pavers along main walkways from Putnam Hall east to Hibbard Hall.
  • Continued water feature installation near Schofield Hall.
  • Partially completed campus gateway installation at Garfield and Park avenues.

Work to be completed in next 60 days

David Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Hall director apartment reconstruction (to be fully completed Aug. 15).
  • Landscaping around hall (to be fully completed Aug. 15).
  • Furniture move-in to student rooms and lounges.

Marilyn Karlgaard Hall renovation

  • Hall director apartment construction (to be fully complete Aug. 8).

New residence hall

  • Interior painting on first floor.
  • Mechanical/electrical/plumbing finishes on first floor.
  • Move in furniture to student rooms and lounges.
  • Landscaping.

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Testing and repairs of irrigation system.
  • Replacement of cracked concrete panels and installation of additional brick pavers along main walkways from Putnam Hall east to Hibbard Hall.
  • Water feature installation near Schofield Hall (completion expected Aug. 31, including landscaping).
  • Campus gateway installation at Garfield and Park avenues (archway, university seal, capstone installations to be completed by mid-August).
  • Install new benches throughout project.
