Just in time for the onset of winter, sidewalks providing more direct routes between the UW-Eau Claire footbridge, campus hill and the rest of lower campus will open by mid- to late afternoon Nov. 20.
- A new route will open along the north sides of Putnam Hall, Thomas Hall, McIntyre Library/Old Library and Schofield Hall, so pedestrians will no longer need to walk behind those buildings when traveling between the hill and other areas of lower campus.
- A new walkway also will open between the south end of the campus footbridge and the campus mall, giving pedestrians a more direct route. That walkway also will connect to a new route leading to and from Hibbard Hall. (The previous route between the footbridge and Hibbard Hall, which used the sidewalk along the north side of Garfield Avenue, will close.)
See the map above for more detail on the new walkway locations.
