Katie Vagnino, Visiting Assistant Professor of English at UWEC, nominated her student Lisa Krawczyk for a NY State Summer Writing Institute scholarship at Skidmore, and while she did not win a scholarship, she was offered a spot in Henri Cole's workshop. She will be one of only two undergrads in that workshop -- the other students are all enrolled in MFA programs, but because the reader of her submission scored her work 8 out of 10, they awarded her a spot and she is accepting it. The scholarship competition and program is open to creative writing students in undergrad and graduate programs all over the country. She will be in some very distinguished company and she is very excited.

Music brings historic building to life
Dr. Chia-Yu Hsu, associate professor of music-composition, was commissioned to write music to accompany a virtual tour of the historic Milwaukee City Hall. The tour is part of the Doors Open Milwaukee, a public celebration of Milwaukee’s architecture.

Nursing 'Hall of Fame'
Dr. Linda Young, dean of UW-Eau Claire's College of Nursing and Health Sciences, was selected as one of the 2020 inductees to the American Academy of Nursing Fellowship, recognizing her for her significant contributions to public health.
