Katie Vagnino, Visiting Assistant Professor of English at UWEC, nominated her student Lisa Krawczyk for a NY State Summer Writing Institute scholarship at Skidmore, and while she did not win a scholarship, she was offered a spot in Henri Cole's workshop. She will be one of only two undergrads in that workshop -- the other students are all enrolled in MFA programs, but because the reader of her submission scored her work 8 out of 10, they awarded her a spot and she is accepting it. The scholarship competition and program is open to creative writing students in undergrad and graduate programs all over the country. She will be in some very distinguished company and she is very excited.
