Blugold Dining at UW-Eau Claire announces the following changes in its Davies Center offerings for spring semester. The changes are a result of feedback from customers.
New convenience store, new location
In an effort to expand the convenience store offerings on lower campus, the Green Bean will close its current location but will be replaced with a new store adjacent to the Marketplace food court, in the former Intermezzos Café location (see below for more about Intermezzos).
The new convenience story (yet to be named) will continue to offer a large variety of organic and all-natural items, but will also be able to offer new items as requested by customers. Caribou brewed coffee and a variety of pastries also will be available in the store, as well as an assortment of Simply to Go grab-and-go items.
More Caribou Coffee —at The Cabin
With the move of the convenience store to the former Intermezzos location, Intermezzos Café will close, but Caribou Coffee will be available in The Cabin. With the larger space, Blugold Dining will expand Caribou brand offerings in response to customer demand.
Since being offered on campus in fall 2012, Caribou Coffee has become increasingly popular and Blugold Dining is looking forward to being able to better serve its guests. Caribou Coffee has not only been on the uprise on campus, but also throughout the Chippewa Valley and was named "Best Coffee" in Volume One's 2014 Best of the Chippewa Valley contest.
Impact on Blugold Dining employees
All of Blugold Dining's staff will be retained within Davies Center operations. They have all joined new teams and will be working starting in spring semester in the new convenience store, The Cabin or The Skillet in the Marketplace food court.
New hours of operation
The new convenience store will have hours consistent with the former Green Bean: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday. However, in an effort to satisfy the early crowd, The Cabin will open earlier during the week, with hours of 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friday but with Saturday hours still corresponding with the University Activities Commission's performance schedule. See the Blugold Dining website for hours of operations for all dining locations.
Sodexo has provided Blugold Dining service on the UW-Eau Claire campus since 2002. Blugold Dining program is administered by University Centers, a Student Affairs unit of UW-Eau Claire.
