Continuing Education announces September program offerings

UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension connects people with possibilities by providing degrees and certificates for working adults, professional and workforce development, youth and community programs, and resources for business.

Following are upcoming programs that provide the opportunity for participants to grow professionally and personally:

Supervisory Management: Learning to Lead
Sept. 6-7, Eau Claire
Sept. 20-21, Hudson

Good leaders continually look for new ways to learn in order for their teams to be successful. "Learning to Lead" will challenge and inspire you, whether you’ve been in a leadership role for a long time or you’ve recently taken on such a position.

Beginning Sign Language 1
Mondays, Sept. 10-Oct. 29, Eau Claire

Did you know sign language is the third most widely used non-English language in the U.S.? Whether you have little or no experience in sign language, knowing the basics can be an invaluable skill. This program is a great place to start. You will learn the fundamentals of conversation and letters of the alphabet, and gain insight into deaf culture and the hard-of-hearing community.

Supervisory Management: Improving Managerial Efficiency
Sept. 13, Eau Claire

Who doesn't want to do more with less time and money? The ability to effectively focus to achieve desired results is a business imperative for organizations operating in increasingly competitive environments. Leaders need to ensure that they, and their staff members, are efficient, effective and productive.

Acting — Stepping on Stage
Tuesdays, Sept. 18-Oct. 23, Eau Claire

Going outside your comfort zone or embracing something new can be a bit scary, but most of the time it’s worth it because you end up learning about yourself. Trust us. Whether you are returning to the stage after a long intermission or have never stepped foot on stage, this acting class is for you.

Arthur Grothe, your fearless leader and UW-Eau Claire assistant professor of theatre arts, will teach you the basics of acting in this six-week course. Plus, you’ll be one of the first to step on stage at the Pablo Center at the Confluence. Who knows? Maybe you’ll eventually make your acting debut there. 

Writing Memoir
Wednesdays, Sept. 26-Nov. 14, Eau Claire

Use the five senses to recall meaningful life memories and write about them. Recall memorable moments worth writing about to create your personal life map. Open your mind to new perspectives on writing memoirs. Register today.

Leadership in Health Care
Sept. 27-28, Eau Claire

Becoming a great leader doesn’t just happen. It takes constant dedication over time as there are always new things to learn and practice. This program focuses on the intricacies of being a leader in the health care industry.
