Continuing Education announces October program offerings

UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension connects people with possibilities by providing degrees and certificates for working adults, professional and workforce development, youth and community programs, and resources for business.

Following are upcoming programs that provide the opportunity for individuals to grow professionally and personally: 

Transformational Leadership
Oct. 3, Eau Claire
Creating strong leaders throughout an organization can lead to a positive, successful work environment and reduce employee turnover. Learn tactics on how you can improve your leadership skills and motivate others to do the same.

Supervisory Management: How to Influence Without Direct Authority
Oct. 4-5, Hudson
By participating in this program, you will gain new insights into how to use your personal credibility in the workplace. Through practicing your powers of persuasion, you'll go back to your workplace with more confidence and credibility.

Fiber Arts: Needle Felting
Thursdays, Oct. 4-18, Eau Claire
Get a chance to work with one of the oldest known textile fabrics in this hands-on needle felting program. During the program you’ll create both 2D and 3D projects that you can keep for yourself or give as gifts. 

Foot and Nail Care: Starting a Business
Oct. 8, Eau Claire
Gain the knowledge and confidence to begin your own foot and nail care business. At this workshop, you will hear from current business owners in the industry and learn how to take the first steps to get started. 

Foot and Nail Care: Education for Nurses — Basic Clinical Option
Oct. 8-9, Eau Claire
This two-day program will prepare you to offer professional foot and nail care and is one of the few offered nationwide that includes both classroom instruction and a supervised clinical practicum. 

Foot and Nail Care: Education for Nurses — Expanded Clinical Option
Oct. 8-12, Eau Claire
This five-day program will prepare you to offer professional foot and nail care and is one of the few offered nationwide that includes both classroom instruction and 40 hours of supervised clinical practicum.

FREE Foot and Nail Care for the Community
Oct. 9-12, Eau Claire
During the clinic nurses will assess your foot and nail health and determine areas that need attention. 

Supervisory Management: Orientation, Time Management and Delegation
Oct. 11-12, Eau Claire
Oct. 18-19, Hudson
Empower your employees. This core course will help you become an effective supervisor by learning how to utilize your employees’ strengths to work as a team. 

Adolescent Mental Health Certificate
Oct. 18-19, Eau Claire
In today’s world, there are several unique challenges facing kids and teens as they grow up. And as a result, knowing how to address mental health with them is becoming increasingly important. Become informed and earn a certificate at this workshop.

Creative Crafting: Bookbinding
Mondays, Oct. 29-Dec. 3, Eau Claire
Help preserve your writings by learning how to hand bind books. You’ll practice both the pamphlet binding and long-stitch binding technique in this six-week program. Take time this fall to try out a new skill. Beginners welcome! 

Punch Lines: Humor in Poetry
Tuesdays, Oct.  30-Nov. 20, Eau Claire
Some think poetry is no laughing matter, but humor and poetry go hand in hand. This class is for writers who want to sharpen their poetic voice and their funny bones.
