Shanna Ellefson receives Future Nursing Leader Award

Shanna Ellefson, received the Future Nursing Leader Award from the Wisconsin Nurses Association during Spring Commencement, May 20, 2017. Dr. Norah Airth-Kindree nominated Shanna based on her leadership qualities and skills throughout her nursing education program.

The award includes a one-year free membership to the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA). ANA is the only full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation's 3.4 million registered nurses; as a constituent member, WNA provides the same service for Wisconsin’s 84,000 RNs. In addition to complimentary membership, she was also provided with the opportunity to serve as a member of any one of WNA’s three Councils: the Nursing Practice & Quality, Education, and Research Council; Workforce Advocacy; or the Public Policy Council.

Shanna is employed as a Registered Nurse at the Baldwin Care Center and is currently pursuing a position in mental/behavioral health. She future plans include returning to school to complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and continue to work in mental/behavioral health.
