| Jan Adams (story); Jesse Horne, WEAU News (video)

The Nursing Leadership Action Panel, for N715 Leadership and Health Policy in Nursing, welcomed Ms. Pat Keller, former WNA and WCN President, Mr. Timothy Ringhand, Western Regional Director, WI Division of Public Health, Office of Policy & Practice Alignment and Dr. Amanda Shimko, UWEC DNP graduate with a leadership focus (all former Blugolds) to campus as we highlighted the importance of the Year of the Nurse in 2020.

The presenters shared examples of their leadership and policy experiences throughout their careers. They also emphasized the value of their UW-Eau Claire nursing programs which prepared them to take on leadership roles within their organizations. In addition, they encouraged all students to engage in nursing leadership and policy work to address the future population health needs. They emphasized the importance of finding mentors, embracing continual learning, and believing in themselves and their abilities as the next generation of nurse leaders.
