On April 15, 2016 the UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing celebrated 50 distinguished alumni who have contributed to the field of nursing in extraordinary ways. Linda Young, PhD, RN, CNE, CFLE, professor and Dean for the UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences was one of the recipients.
Dean Young was specifically recognized for her policy leadership in advocating for an increase in the supply of nurse educators to help address the nursing shortage at the state and regional level. Her work recently garnered 3.2 million dollars in funding to assist nurses working toward advanced degrees and committed to teaching. Her accomplishments also include making a global impact by establishing student learning and service opportunities in the United Kingdom and El Salvador. Over her 35-year career as a nurse educator, Dr. Young made a difference in the lives of over 2000 students. In 2011 she stepped into an administrative leadership role as UW-Eau Claire Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
