Congratulations Doctor of Nursing Practice candidates

Six years ago, on May 19, 2012, fifteen nurses were the first to receive the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This May 19th, twenty-six nurses will earn a DNP degree and take leadership positions within health care organizations across the region. The students started this journey each with different backgrounds and abilities and have reached their destination together sharing new experiences and achievements. 

DNP candidate, Jill Jasinski, stated, “You will sacrifice a lot of your time, sleep, and energy to do this, but it is worth it. The knowledge, confidence, and experiences you will gain are unsurpassable. I am proud to have completed this goal. There are so many things that I want to do with this degree. To name a few, I want to advance nursing scholarship, research, and innovate NP practice. I want to take a political platform and advance health care locally and nationally. This degree is a springboard for me.”

As the culmination of the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program, students develop a nursing practice project that advances the nursing profession. Through the project, students demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, systems thinking, and accountability in the design, delivery, and evaluation of evidence‐based practice to improve health care outcomes. This project is designed as clinical scholarship project allowing students to demonstrate expertise in practice and the integration of the DNP‐prepared individual into a health care environment that includes utilization of leadership, consultation, advocacy, and collaboration.
