Suspension of Art Education Major

FROM: p. 86 of 2015-2016 University Undergraduate Catalog

TO: Suspension of COMPREHENSIVE MAJOR: ART AND DESIGN EDUCATION, Comprehensive Teaching (Code 020-072, effective for fall 2017. Current students and those entering in the 2016-2017 catalog will still be allowed to complete program.

RATIONALE: The Department of Art & Design unanimously approved a recommendation to suspend its Art Education program. Although the decision to suspend the program was difficult to embrace, reductions in budget, enrollment, and instructional capabilities made it necessary for the department to refocus its limited resources toward other areas. The department hopes that the suspension of this program will offer the opportunity for the College of Education and Human Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Art & Design to develop innovative strategies for returning the Art Education program in the near future.

EFFECTIVE: Fall 2017
