The College of Business is looking for a student interested in social to work during the 2015-16 academic year managing the College of Business social media accounts. This is a great opportunity to gain real world social media management experience in an area that is becoming increasingly important to the business world.

Reports to

  • College of Business marketing and communications team


  • Position begins Fall 2015
  • 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, exact days to be determined based on class schedule
  • Possibility for internship to continue through winterim and summer months


  • Works with College of Business marketing and communications team to develop social media strategy
  • Manages College of Business social media accounts
  • Promotes events within the College of Business and on campus
  • Curates outside content that would be beneficial and interesting to social media followers
  • Connects with student organizations to help promote their organizations
  • Tracks social media analytics
  • Helps student organizations improve their online presence (social media accounts, websites, etc.)


  • Must be organized and attentive to detail
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a good proofreader, posting accurate and grammatically correct content
  • Must be able to summarize large amounts of information into a short post
  • Must be able to write in a friendly, conversational tone
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with little supervision
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must be knowledgeable of various social media platforms
  • Must stay current with social media trends
  • Social media management programs: Experience with Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social a plus
  • Ability to be monitor, listen and respond to social media updates throughout the day a plus
  • Familiarity with design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign a plus
  • Web design experience with Wix, CommonSpot, or a knowledge of HTML and CSS a plus
