On February 20-22, the University of Toledo hosted its Invitational Sales Competition (UTISC) in Toledo, Ohio. The UW-Eau Claire Sales Team proudly received the third place university award, with Bowling Green State University in second place and Florida State University in first place.
Nic Harris, a junior marketing major and Spanish minor from Wayzata, MN, was selected as a finalist and received 6th place in the Junior Division. Harris earned first place in the first round, quarterfinals, and semi-finals which attributed to the UW-Eau Claire team placing third at the competition.
Jenna Baker, a sophomore marketing major with a professional sales emphasis and psychology minor from Nekoosa, WI, was selected as a semi-finalist and received 7th place in the Sophomore/Freshman Division. Baker earned the highest scores in her room in both first and quarterfinal rounds. All rounds of scores between both divisions played a significant role for the UW-Eau Claire achieving 3rd place as a team.
Each of the 36 university teams was comprised of one junior and one sophomore/freshman so they could be matched up against other students with a similar level of experience. Seniors were not allowed to compete in the competition. 3M was the product sponsor UTISC event.
"It was truly a team effort to gain this year’s success, and it took a lot of dedication," stated Jessica Gardner, Sales Team Faculty Coach. "Every member played a substantial role in having a high level of preparation for this competition, including weekly meetings that began in January."
