Dr. Jean Pratt, professor of information systems and interim associate dean of the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, has been named the 2018 Computer Educator of the Year by the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS). Pratt was presented with the award at the IACIS International Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida, on Oct. 5.
The IACIS Computer Educator of the Year award recognizes a faculty member who has compiled an outstanding record of professional service, teaching and scholarship, and has made significant contributions to their university and their profession, according to Robert Behling, IACIS executive director. Competition was keen, and Pratt was selected from a group of outstanding candidates, Behling said. As evidence of the impact Pratt has had on the academic community, Behling cited her numerous teaching, advising and community service awards, her service as editor for several academic journals, and her stints as interim information systems department chair and interim associate dean for the College of Business.
“Jean is a tireless worker who brings unmatched enthusiasm to every project she undertakes,” said Tim Vaughan, interim dean of the College of Business. “She is generally most excited when she is on her way to class to try out some new course content or innovative teaching method. Jean embodies the true intent of the teacher-scholar.”
