Marketing team successfully defends Texas title

For the second year in a row, a UW-Eau Claire sales and marketing team has taken first place in the Schlumberger Sales Competition. The event was held October 11-13 in Houston, TX.

The winning Blugolds were Hunter Mattison and Cayla Seitz. They received a trophy and a check for $5,000, which they will split and use for scholarships. Second place and $3,000 went to the Ohio University. The Kansas State University received $1,500 for their third place finish.

Also representing UW-Eau Claire were Elijah Mutter-Schulz and Macayla Palubicki. The Blugold teams were coached by Dr. Bob Erffmeyer, director of the UW-Eau Claire Center for Sales & Sales Management.

In 2017, Blugolds Amanda Bower and Michaela Perz took first at the 2017 Schlumberger Final Round Sales Competition.

Schlumberger is the world’s leading provider of technology for reservoir modeling, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry.

About the Competition

UW-Eau Claire is one of four universities selected by Schlumberger to participate in the annual Schlumberger Sales Competition. Other participating schools are Kansas State University, Ohio University, and the University of Houston.

Universities were selected by Schlumberger executives based on the university’s record of success at national competitions and the quality of their sales and marketing programs.

The Schlumberger Sales Competition consists of the two events. Round one takes place on each of the university campuses. The campus competitions, which are run by Schlumberger, followed the same format. Students participated in a needs assessment role play with Schlumberger professionals. The team with the highest score advances to the final round of the competition which is held at Schlumberger’s corporate headquarters in Houston, TX.
