The UW-Eau Claire College of Business is building on the exciting culture of entrepreneurship in the Chippewa Valley. Catch the excitement!

Join us October 10-13, 2016 for a week of activities as we listen to entrepreneurs, visionaries, and movers and shakers in the Chippewa Valley and beyond. This year’s activities will also have an international flair as we will be joined by faculty and students from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.

All events are held in Eau Claire and are open to the public. Please attend as many activities as your schedule will permit. There is no fee to attend.

Monday, Oct. 10
Starting a Business Here and Abroad
5:30 pm, UW-Eau Claire Davies Center, Dakota Room

What’s it like to start a business in Eau Claire? In India? Dan Beck from Midwest Meals, Becca Cooke from Red's Mercantile and Andrew Holland from ProVyro will will discuss the opportunities and challenges they experienced getting their new ventures up and running in Eau Claire. Students from Shri Ram College of Commerce will offer insights as to how the experiences of these local entrepreneurs compare to those in India. Refreshments will be served.

Tuesday, Oct. 11
Redesigning Eau Claire
7:30 pm, State Theatre Lobby, 316 Eau Claire St.

Our panelists are well known throughout the Chippewa Valley for their leadership abilities and entrepreneurial spirit. But they also have a passion for our community that transcends leading highly successful businesses and organizations. Listen to Zach Halmstad from JAMF Software, Nick Meyer from Volume One, Ben Richgruber of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, and Kimera Way from the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, discuss why they have invested their time, talents, and resources in these beautiful spaces -- the Confluence Project, the Lismore, and the Oxbow. The panel will be moderated by Ann Rupnow, UW-Eau Claire Entrepreneur Program. Dessert and coffee immediately follows at The Oxbow Hotel, 516 Galloway Street.

The Business of Entertainment
5:30 pm, UW-Eau Claire Davies Center, Dakota Room

Gary Berg had a passion for fun, $1,000 in the bank, a strong work ethic, and enough blind faith to think he could start a business that would succeed. And it has! Learn how Berg founded G.L. Berg Entertainment, a company that has provided exceptionally talented entertainers and speakers for events all across the United States and beyond for over 27 years. Snacks and punch/coffee will be served.

Thursday, Oct. 13
3rd Annual Swim with the Sharks
5:30 pm, UW-Eau Claire, RCU Corporate Conference Room, 200 Riverfront Terrace

Four UW-Eau Claire finalists and four Shri Ram College of Commerce finalists will pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges at the 3rd Annual Swim with the Sharks student business pitch competition. Come and listen to their ideas and cheer them on! Refreshments will be served.

2016 Startup 48
JAMF Software, 215 Riverfront Terrace

Startup 48 is a weekend event where people come together to share ideas and learn what it takes to be in a startup business by creating one. If you have ever been curious about building a startup business, or creating a product for a startup, this is the event for you. Startup 48 is open to anyone, of any age, who is interested in entrepreneurship and wants to meet like-minded individuals in our community. There is a fee for this event. Learn more
