AITP hosts technology celebration

Tomorrow's Technology Today (T3) is the theme for the one day conference hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of the Association for Information Technology Professions (AITP). The event, which is open to all students interested in technology, will be held Saturday, April 18 from 8 am-4 pm in UW-Eau Claire Centennial Hall. 

"T3 is a technology celebration that will be fun and informative," said Anna Edwards, AITP vice president and T3 director. "Students can network with top executives and recruiters from companies that actively recruit IT talent, and listen to presentations where they will learn about the issues facing technologies today. We are also hosting a case competition where students can compete for cash prizes--$500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third."

Zach Halmstad '04, Co-CEO, JAMF Software, will deliver the keynote address. Halmstad will provide a brief history of JAMF which will include the challenges he faced when he started his company as a student at UW-Eau Claire. He will also discuss some of the pressing challenges JAMF is facing today and offer a glimpse of some exciting new technologies. Halmstad will speak from 12:30 -1:15 pm in Centennial 1614. 

Other featured speakers are as follows:

  • Scott Strangstalien, CEO of Invisible Connect, an Eau Claire area technology start-up, will talk about adapting technology and building businesses differently.
  • IT professionals from Target, will present, Target Tech Talk, a presentation on new emerging technologies.
  • Jeff Cookle '92,senior IT architect from Hormel Foods, will discuss IT security and its impact on everyone's job. 
  • IT professionals from the Travelers Company. Topic to be announced.

AITP members may attend the conference for free. The price for non-AITP members is $10. The event includes a continental breakfast, lunch, T-shirt and a "swag bag" for those who pre-register. NOTE: Pre-registration may close without public notice. All students interested in attending are asked to register in advance at
