Service to the community is highly valued at UW-Eau Claire. COB students, working with faculty members on in-class and out-of-class activities, have used their talents in service to others. Here are some examples from 2017:


Amount students raised in funds and gifts in kind for nonprofits. Recipients included the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Chuck Tomkovick Teaching Excellence Award, Feed My People, Joshua’s Camp, and L.E. Phillips Career Development Center.


Number of free tax returns completed for low-income clients during the 2016 tax season by students in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.


Number of organizations students worked with for class projects or student organization-sponsored community activities. Organizations included: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Bolton Refuge House, Boys and Girls Club, Chippewa Valley Free Clinic, Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity, Community Table, Eau Claire County Humane Association, Eau Claire Children’s Museum, Feed My People, Girls Scouts, Grindstone Lake Association, Lakes Protection Association, L.E. Phillips Career Development Center, Mayo Clinic, Regional Business Fund, Sacred Heart Hospital, Salvation Army, St. Francis Food Pantry, Toys for Tots, United Way, UW-Eau Claire, Wellness Shack, and the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau.
