Financial Management Association hosts leadership conference

Leadership is the theme of the conference hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of the Financial Management Association. The forum is Friday, September 29 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm in the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center Dakota Ballroom. There is no charge for attending the event, which is open to the public. Advanced registration preferred. Please register here.

Highlights of the event include:

  • A keynote presentation by entrepreneurs Neely Tamminga and Kayla Wesser, DISTILL. Using the experience they gain on Wall Street as “professional question askers, economic data nerds, and students of consumer behavior”, Tamminga and Wesser launched DISTIL, a specialized advisory practice. Through their insights on consumer behavior, economic forces, and competitive landscapes, Tamminga and Wesser help organizations ask better questions to form strategies for growth.
  • A panel presentation by members of the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA). The discussion will focus on trends in banking, career opportunities, and specialized leadership development and training opportunities available through the WBA. Panelists include Abbi Olson, Security Financial Bank; Cynthia Erdman, Partnership Bank; and Rose Oswald Poels, Wisconsin Bankers Association. Kaylie Bernard, a sophomore management major, will moderate the discussion.
  • A leadership panel featuring financial professionals with over 50 years of combined business experience. Members of the panel include Gayle Ober, George Family Foundation; Kari Solomonson, Peoples State Bank; Dianne Paauwe, Piper Jaffray; Kate Noe, Ameriprise River Prairie Wealth Partners. Elizabeth LeMay, a senior business economics and finance major, will moderate the discussion.

Following the presentations, participants will participate in a round table discussion with conference presenters, panelists and other finance professionals.

Special thanks to the following conference sponsors: Mike Bernard and Bernard Bus Services; Patty Rogers and the Wisconsin Bankers Association; Kaci Burger; Wayne Gross; Pete Erickson; and the Olmstead National Bank.
