guiding young musicians AND growing a business

Kayla Shoemaker
piano performance major

There's an expression that says "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Some people live their whole lives without finding this fortunate path, but music student Kayla Shoemaker has found the beauty in that adage already and is making it a reality — and she's just graduating from college. As a piano performance major, Kayla has taken advantage of all the UW-Eau Claire music program has to offer, including an immersion study in New York City, where she met influential NYC musicians and gained a true sense of the diverse opportunities she would find in the world of concert piano. She returned with the inspiration to build her own private piano studio where she currently instructs 25 young students (and maintains a long wait list), and contracts her piano services for private concerts, weddings, accompaniments for choirs and church services. Kayla Shoemaker will graduate from UW-Eau Claire with a piano performance degree and a well-established music career. Kayla is guiding young musicians AND growing a successful business ... And that's pretty powerful!
