This past June, the University Staff Council awarded special service awards to Deb Lang and Sue Ayres. Lang, the events and special projects coordinator for the office of the chancellor, and Ayres, information resource manager for the Career Services, were both recognized by the council for their years of dedicated service. In presenting these awards, then council chair Craig Ernst made the following remarks:
"Debra Lang was a charter member of the Council and is listed in those minutes from the very beginning. She has worked hard as part of the Professional Development Committee and Day, and more recently the Nominating committee. Sue Ayers has also been there from the very beginning. To my knowledge Sue has been a participant and chaired several of the council committees, including the personnel committee, bylaws committee, and on the executive committee having been the university staff rep. Along with that, Sue served as Chair of the Council and called her first meeting to order on July 24, 2012," Ernst said.
"The University Staff Council believes in recognizing people for their accomplishments and the time they give above and beyond their regular work. We all don't hear it enough, and in many cases, not at all. I'm not sure what has been done in the past for this council, but I hope that this type of thing continues as a tradition from here on out."
