HCAD students present research at national conference

| Gretchen Hutterli

Four health care administration students presented their applied research projects at the Student Poster Exposition during the 2017 American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) Convocation & Exposition in St. Louis, MO, April 1-5. Attending with the students were HCAD faculty members Dr. Kevin Hansen and Dr. Doug Olson.

The Student Poster Exposition gives students from universities across the country the opportunity to present their scholarly work with a faculty member or creative professional project with an ACHCA member through poster displays and oral presentations.

UW-Eau Claire students presented the following projects:

  • Luke Jackson, a junior from Chaska, MN, presented findings and outcomes from the 2016 National Emerging Leadership Summit he attended in Washington, D.C.  His faculty mentor was Dr. Hansen.

  • Katelyn Mrozek, a junior from Paynesville, MN, presented information on health and aging services programs across the United States, as well as findings from research she conducted with Dr. Olson's during his sabbatical this year.

  • Allison Prouty, a junior from Apple Valley, MN, investigated various uses of technology in long-term care settings. Her mentor was Dr. Hansen.

  • Alyssa Schwaller, a junior from Ladysmith, WI, presented a retrospective study of program reports that focused on the educational best practices of successful NAB-accredited universities and health administration programs. Her mentor was Dr. Jennifer Johs-Artisensi.

The HCAD students will also present their research at the university’s 25th Annual Student Research Days, May 3-4 in Davies Center. The event is part of the university’s Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA), which will be held May 1-5.
