In Blugold SuccessShops, you’ll get the inside scoop from former Blugold students on navigating the professional world after college. All sessions are facilitated by UW-Eau Claire alumni who are experts on their topics and want to share their tips and tricks with you.

Join your fellow students and alumni who were once in your shoes for some Blugold-to-Blugold career advice that connects your academic department to the real-life workplace. College casual attire is encouraged.

September 18, 2019 | Fitness Jobs & the Gig Economy | Facilitated by Jeff Rogers

Jeff Rogers owns Rog City Fitness and has been doing health-related contract work for the past decade. He will share his experiences working as a personal trainer in the gig economy as well as his perspectives on investing in the health of the community he works and lives in, various careers in fitness and nutrition, and turning the thing he loves doing into his business.

Angela Pittman Taylor graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2000 and is now Senior Vice President and Public Relations Operations Manager at Baird, where she began as an intern while she was a student. She has been recognized as a "corporate trailblazer" at Baird and a Woman of Influence by the Milwaukee Business Journal. Angela has been working in public relations since her first college internship and will discuss careers in public relations and brand strategy.

Aric Steffen is a 2005 Accounting and Finance graduate who works for Greenlight Capital, a hedge fund in New York City. He will share his career story and explain the variety of entry-level and advanced jobs in finance, including investing, trading, risk management, marketing, accounting, and legal/compliance.

November 6, 2019 | Working as an Artist & Jobs in Art | Facilitated by Eric Lee

Eric Lee graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2010 with a Fine Arts degree and has spent his time since as a visual artist who repurposes litter and other found items by incorporating them into his paintings. His work is currently on display in a European Culture Centre exhibit that coincides with the world-renowned Venice Biennale in Italy.
