The Business Communication Department is hosting a National Grammar Day celebration on March 2 -- two days earlier than the National Grammar Day which is Saturday, March 4.
Test your knowledge of grammar — and win prizes — by participating in the department's annual National Grammar Day competition, which will be held on the hour from 10 am until 2 pm on the College of Business Facebook page. UW-Eau Claire students, faculty, and staff are invited to identify the mistakes and post their corrections in the comments. At the end of each hour, names will be drawn for a prize among those with the correct answer. Winners may pick up their prizes in the Business Communication office (Schneider 404).
Be sure to also stop by the Business Writing & Presentations Studio in Schneider 221 for a traditional "punctuation" cookie. The Studio will be open from 8 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. Business Communication faculty and student tutors will be on hand to explain the services available to business students who wish to enhance their written and oral communication skills.
"Celebrating National Grammar Day is a fun way to call attention to the importance of good grammar in crafting clear and precise business messages," said Lentz. "While good grammar is not the sole mark of an effective message, it is seen by many business people as an indication of an individual's professionalism, intelligence, and overall competence."
