Cynthia Hofacker, senior lecturer in the Department of Business Communication, was named the 2017 Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Professor by members of the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International. Hofacker was recognized by BGS at its annual initiation ceremony on April 8.
Hofacker, who came to UW-Eau Claire in 1985, teaches face-to-face and online introductory and advanced business communication courses for 180+ students each semester. Known as a dynamic instructor who engages her students, Hofacker consistently receives high marks from those who have taken her classes.
"Cindy Hofacker is one of the best professors I have had here at UWEC”, said Katie German, a junior marketing major from Jordan, MN. “She is very helpful and willing to do anything for her students."
Jillian Hultgren, a sophomore accounting and finance major from Winona, MN, agreed.
"Cindy Hofacker is one of the most caring professors at UW-Eau Claire,” she said. “She truly makes an effort to get to know all of her students."
An experienced educator, Hofacker has also taught business communication and business occupation courses at the Chippewa Valley Technical College, Menomonie High School, and Ladysmith High School. In addition, she served as president of the Regis Catholic Schools in Eau Claire from 2001-2008.
Hofacker was awarded both a Bachelor of Science in Business Education and a Master of Science in Teaching from UW-Eau Claire. She holds a Wisconsin Lifetime license in Secondary Business Education.
