Juried Student Art Show runs through April 30 in Foster Gallery

The winners of the 58th annual Juried Student Art Show at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire have been announced. The show opened April 9 and will continue through April 30 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire.

Mathew Zuelke, Stratford, won first place for a slip cast porcelain piece titled "Portrait of Augustus." Second place went to Kelly Graves, Wayzata, Minnesota, for her porcelain piece "Citrus Squeezer." Zachary Oliphant, Chippewa Falls, won third place for "Melanininc Void," a silver gelatin photo. 

Honorable mentions went to Katie Bohn, Whitefish Bay; Kendall Clay, Middleton; Michelle Gervais, Athens; Nadean Marron, La Farge; and Kimberly Williams, Stanley.

A special juror's award was presented to Darcy Behringer, River Falls; Samantha Biestergveld, Eau Claire; and 2014 graduates Gabriel Larson and Christine White for their collaborative video installation, "Transfer."

The juror for the show was Adrienne Salinger, professor of photography at the University of New Mexico.

Newton Scholarship and Sigrid Rasmussen Memorial Scholarship; Chiemi Freund, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Andrea Cecchini Memorial Art Scholarship; Michael Gehrke, Eau Claire, Randolph Koelsch Art Scholarship; Sarah Girard, Delafield, Edward Haugen "Ted" Leslie Memorial Art Scholarship; Amy Greathead, Sun Prairie, Josette T. Migawa Arts Education Scholarship and Gerald M. Newton Scholarship; Alexis Kucera, Lakeville, Minnesota, Edward S. Fish Art Scholarship; Madeline Ludtke, Stillwater, Minnesota, Ruth Foster Fund; Claire Madden, Hudson, Grewe Scholarship; Asahi Nagata, Sapporo, Japan, Klinger Art Scholarship; and Josh Thorson, Plymouth, Minnesota, Randolph Koelsch Art Scholarship.
