The UW-Eau Claire finance case teams took first and third place at the local level of the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge on February 15 in Madison, WI.
Congratulations to first place finalists Ryan Battist, Chad Glover, Kyle Kolb, and Brock Schauer. Members of the 3rd place are Danielle Kunde, Elizabeth LeMay, Dier Pulatov, Caitlin Setterman, and Richard Stafford. Dr. Pedro Sottile, associate professor of finance, coaches both teams. Assisting Sottile is Mark Alfuth, finance lecturer.
Competing at the local event in addition to UW-Eau Claire were teams from Carthage College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Oshkosh.
The first place Blugold team will advance to the Americas Regional Final in Boston, MA, March 19-20, where they will go up against teams from 55 universities from across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. The top two finalists from the Americas Regional will travel to the Global Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 25-27, where they will compete against the best teams from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The CFA research challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. More than 5,000 students from over 1,000 universities participate in the event annually.
