Opening Day is a one-day orientation program that welcomes new freshman to campus and introduces them to academic life prior to the start of fall semester. New students will meet in small groups with student mentors and a faculty/staff mentor. You will be paired with a faculty/staff mentor and work collaboratively throughout the day. In total, we will hire over 100 current students to serve as Opening Day mentors.
If you are hired, you will be required to attend a training session in April or May to get a brief overview of the program. Opening Day mentors must attend a 3-hour training on Friday, September 1, 2017 and must be available to work Opening Day programs on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from approximately 9 am-5 pm. Mentors will be paid an hourly wage for August training and Opening Day programs, earning approximately $70 total. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Quamme, Coordinator of New Student Orientation & Programs, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
