Historical Note

John W. Morris, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs formally proposed the creation of a University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire faculty journal in 1978.  The idea for such a journal arose from conversations of faculty, academic staff, and emeriti concerned about the difficulty scholarly communication at a growing university.  Intended to improve colleagues’ knowledge and appreciation of each others’ work, Wisconsin Dialogue: A Faculty Journal for the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire was first published in 1980.  With the exception of 1981, the journal was published annually until 1993.

Content Description

This small collection contains primarily the copyright registrations filed for Wisconsin Dialogue, as well as permissions granted to reprint materials originally published in Wisconsin Dialogue.  Files from the faculty editorial board include correspondence regarding the foundation of the journal, the original publication guidelines established for the journal, and fragmentary minutes from editorial board meetings.
