Biographical / Historical Note

The University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire Athletic Committee appears to have been convened in 1948.  In the post World War II era, the return of men to the campus fueled a resurgence of interest in collegiate athletics.  The committee, consisting of athletics personnel, faculty, and students, determined pricing of athletic tickets, approved athletic schedules and budgets, gave athletic awards to students, and discussed the relationship of the university to various athletic associations and conferences.  The committee was also involved in discussions of the place of women’s athletics at UWEC.

The University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire Athletic Committee records consist of four series:  Minutes (1948-1990), Correspondence (1967-1991), Budget Requests (1968-1991), and Miscellaneous (1947-1991).
