Historical Note

The Phillips Store appears to have been a general store located in Chippewa Falls, Wis.   It is unknown how long the store was in business.  There is no listing for the store in the earliest Chippewa Falls directory in McIntyre Library Special Collections (1887-1888).

Content Description

The ledger book provides information about customer accounts and transactions.  Entries include the name of the purchaser, the date of the transaction, the goods purchased from the store, and in some cases, goods purchased by the store, and prices.

Acquisition Information: Donated to the University of Wisconsin – Stout by Doris and Lawrence Cronk in October 1990.  Transferred to Special Collections & Archives, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in November 1990.
