Biographical / Historical Note
Although the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire and its predecessor institutions have offered foreign language instruction continuously since 1917-1918, a formal Foreign Languages Department did not come into being until 1926-1927 . The first baccalaureate degrees in foreign languages (French and Spanish) were granted in 1951, the first year that the institution was authorized to grant such degrees.
The records consist of syllabi for courses taught during the mid- to late 1970s.
Acquisition Information: Transferred to the University Archives by the Foreign Languages Department prior to March 2006.
