Kinesiology: Assistant Professor to Serve as Program Director of Master's in Athletic Training

POSITION The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks a Program Director for the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) beginning July 1, 2024. This is a 9-month faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor with a summer assignment for program directing. The department seeks a candidate with demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills to lead this new program. The candidate must be committed to teaching excellence and to an active research agenda involving athletic training graduate students. This position may carry an initial tenure appointment (if eligible at hire) and will begin with the 2024-2025 academic year. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, DAT, EdD) from a regionally accredited institution in a science-based discipline
• Qualifications to be tenured in Kinesiology department
• BOC Certified
• Eligibility for athletic training licensure in the state of Wisconsin
• Three years of clinical experience
• Leadership/supervision/management experience
• Demonstrated evidence of successful university teaching
• Research experience demonstrating current use of technology and evidence-based practice
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Associate or Full Professor rank
• Three years of Athletic Training program administration experience
• Five years of university teaching experience
• Demonstrated excellence in university teaching
• Ability to teach courses in Athletic Training (e.g., principles of athletic training, emergency medicine and pathophysiology, pharmacology, clinical education)
• Secondary area of teaching expertise to serve departmental needs (e.g., graduate research methods, psychology of injury, sport performance)
• Established record of research including external funding and quality publications
• Demonstrated excellence in mentoring graduate student research
• Demonstrated professional service at state, regional, national, and/or international level

DUTIES: Serve as Program Director for the MSAT; teach courses in the MSAT based on program needs and specialization; mentor and support graduate students in patient-care and other relevant areas of research leading to nationally/internationally refereed publications and presentations; provide academic advising to students; engage in service to the department, college, university and profession; recruit students to the graduate program; oversee clinical education in collaboration with the Clinical Education Coordinator, Medical Director, and other program faculty/staff as needed;  maintain CAATE accreditation through day-to-day operation, yearly program review, and self-study/site visit actions involving the MSAT.

DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology consists of 13 faculty and instructional academic staff and approximately 700 majors and minors. Department faculty are dedicated to teaching, student learning and are actively engaged in student-faculty research. The Department is recognized for community outreach programs that offer health and physical activity opportunities for individuals living in the Eau Claire region. The Department maintains relationships with multiple regional healthcare providers including Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
