Business Communication and Information Systems: Student Professional Development Program Director (25%)
POSITION: Part-time (25%) director for the College of Business’s Student Professional Development Program (SPDP), housed in the Business Communication and Information Systems Department (BCIS) beginning August 21, 2023. The working title for this position is Student Professional Development Program Director. The official title is Academic Program Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Work experience in a business setting
- Experience with training and/or curriculum design and program assessment
- Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Knowledge of professional etiquette, professional networking, and professional presence
- Creative abilities in program design and delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Experience working with college students
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with Canvas or another LMS
- Experience with Articulate Storyline
DUTIES:
- Create and maintain a relevant, contemporary, and robust professional development curriculum
- Facilitate the SPDP workshops each semester, including the networking events
- Assess program effectiveness and student success
- Hire and supervise the SPDP intern
- Schedule keynote speakers or external SPDP program workshop guest speakers
- Coordinate networking event guests with the CoB Outreach Program Coordinator
- Coordinate efforts with the program ADA to ensure student accountability and program completion
THE UNIT: The Business Communication Program consists of seven staff members and is one of the four academic units in the College of Business. Beginning with the Fall 2023 semester, the program will be part of the Department of Business Communication and Information Systems. All College of Business students must take business communication courses as part of their degree. Beginning in Fall 2023, Business Communication will offer a major, in addition to an Advanced Business Communication Certificate that is open to any student at UW-Eau Claire. Additionally, the Business Communication Program administers the College’s Student Professional Development Program and Business Writing and Presentations Studio. The College of Business consists of 2300 students and 40 faculty and instructional staff.
