Registration & Records Business Analyst

A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Registration and Records beginning April 3, 2023. The working title for this assignment is Reg/Rec Business Analyst with an official title in the IT Business Analyst II title series.  This is a renewable assignment.  The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with integrated information systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and data tables
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply the policies, procedures, and academic structure of the University
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to independently manage projects and maintain thorough records
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multifaceted work environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of functions, operations, and activities related to student records and registration modules in a student information system and other software systems
  • Experience with Oracle Campus Solutions or another student information system

DUTIES:

The Blugold Central Operations team provides foundational (i.e., “back office”) support for the delivery of Blugold Central’s services to students, which include records and registration, financial aid, student account transactions, and parking. This position has responsibility for the operational and functional processes related to student electronic academic record maintenance and academic registration activities and serves as the functional lead in these areas for the Registrar Unit.

This position serves as the functional liaison for electronic student records and registration activities with the division of Learning and Technology Services (LTS), user departments and third-party software vendors. It will work closely with other functional leads in Blugold Central to gain cross-functional knowledge that will allow for a high level of participation in optimizing business processes to improve efficiency and service.

The individual in this position must exhibit a working knowledge of database systems and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the business processes and academic policies being supported, ensuring compliance with University and UW System policies and procedures and with state and federal regulations.

Primary functions:

  • Provide technical, operational, and functional support for student electronic academic record maintenance and electronic academic registration activities and systems
  • Perform technical administrative functions including, but not limited to, set-up and processes for beginning and end of term, foundation table set-up and various registration functions
  • Conduct and analyze audit reports to ensure processes sustain data integrity and apply controls to safeguard accuracy of data in the creation and maintenance of academic records
  • Work with users in daily operations to troubleshoot and resolve problems with software solutions; recommend system changes and enhancements when deemed appropriate
  • Assist in software updates and upgrades; Serve as unit lead in testing for Oracle Campus Solutions functionality regarding electronic registration and student academic record
  • Assist in implementing new technology to improve business practices and streamline processes including design, testing and maintenance
  • Continuously assess and evaluate business processes and functionality to promote efficiency
  • Communicate, train, and assist end users on system functionality and changes due to upgrades
  • Develop and maintain written instructions on system procedures and business processes
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

THE UNIT: The unit of Blugold Central consists of 46 staff members. Registration and Records is a unit within Blugold Central and has 10 staff members.
