Recruiting Assistant

A full-time, university staff position is available in the Advising, Retention + Career Center beginning February 2023. The working title is Recruiting Assistant with an official job title of Administrative Assistant II.  The salary range will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team, applying judgment and logic
  • Knowledge of working technology including Microsoft Excel
  • Willingness to ask questions when things seem amiss
  • Team-oriented: Willingness to be collaborative, flexible, and interested in helping others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Highly organized and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

DUTIES: The Recruiting Assistant is part of the Career Services team, housed in the Advising, Retention and Career Center and the Division of Enrollment Management. The position is crucial to developing a comprehensive employer recruiting communication strategy, to cultivate key partnerships and a network of professionals.

  • Serve as point of contact for perspective employers providing advice and information about recruitment, engagement, hiring students, and addressing their needs. Answer phone calls and emails from students, employers, faculty, and staff, guiding them to the correct resource. Make referrals to appropriate campus offices as needed. 
  • Schedule logistics and secure resources for on-campus recruiting activities such as career fairs, alumni panels, and networking events
  • Proactively develops relationships and working knowledge of relevant industries.
  • Provides students with information about internship opportunities, career planning, and/or employment opportunities, and coaches students through the application process and using Handshake.
  • Participates in the campus-wide career services community providing input to leadership regarding the development of programs offered by the school.
  • Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • Assists with the collection of annual graduate employment/continuing education data by contacting graduates, entering data, and searching social media profiles to aid in the collection associated with the First Destination Report
  • Assist with planning and implementing career events such as career fairs and alumni panels, as directed by the Employer Relations Manager
  • Provides general administrative support to employers, students, and colleagues as appropriate
  • Offer scheduling and reporting support to the Director of Career Services in relation to the Employer Partners Program

THE UNIT: The Advising, Retention and Career Center consists of 40+ staff members dedicated to effective campuswide academic and career advising practices and initiatives. The center consists of Academic Advising, The Office of Career Services, and Orientation Programs. Our staff partner with faculty advisors from the four colleges to provide our students with a holistic advising approach.
