Blugold Central: Financial Specialist II
A full-time university staff position is available in Blugold Central –Bursar’s Unit beginning June, 2023. The working title for this assignment is “Blugold Central: Financial Specialist II” with an official title of “Financial Specialist II”. This is an expected-to-continue assignment, which requires a six-month probationary period. The expected hourly hiring salary will be commensurate with experience. The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have experience with cash handling, customer service and interpreting and analyzing rules and regulations. In addition, they will need to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with efficiency. A qualified candidate must be self – motivated and willing to learn a wide variety of job duties. They must also demonstrate commitment to equity and inclusiveness and ability to bring diverse perspectives and experiences. They would also need to be to be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, email, internet, and data entry on databases, including the ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets with simple formulas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Cash handling with experience preparing and reconciling daily bank deposits; knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, disbursement, and reconciliation; general ledger analysis and reconciliation, accounts receivable collection, plus demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
DUTIES: This position does work of a complex nature involving planning, analyzing, and coordinating the operation of student financials in the areas of direct application, remittance, and returns of financial aid. Interprets applicable federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations, and prepares and maintains financial reports and documentation for financial aid disbursement. Prepares transaction reports, reviews, analyzes, and reconciles all daily accounts receivable including student, campus account, and general ledger transactions. Prepares daily university deposit. Adjusts student accounts for various scenarios at the direction of supervisor and/or Bursar. Coordinate, setup, test, and maintain study abroad courses.
