Office Supervisor

A full-time university staff position is available in Housing and Residence Life beginning  February 2023.  The working title for this assignment is Office Supervisor with an official title of  Administrative Supervisor .  This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period.  The expected hourly hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, with exceptional knowledge of Excel; experience working with the back-end operations of major database system(s); experience supervising employees; ability to direct work flow and office functions for an office support staff; ability to work evenings and weekends for special events or residence hall crises; willingness to work additional hours during peak periods; ability to concentrate in a busy office; ability to effectively field customer complaints and nimbly create solutions; adherence to rules and regulations of UW System and UW Eau Claire; proven experience effectively working with people from a variety of backgrounds, with demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development in diversity, equity and inclusiveness. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge of Residential Management System or StarRez housing management software; evidence of professional development in supervisory or management strategies; willingness to travel to represent housing at Enrollment Management functions or for professional development and training.  Bachelor’s Degree at a regionally-accredited College or University.

DUTIES: Serve as the Housing Management System (RMS) database coordinator, creating and maintaining all processes that facilitate the assignment of students to residence hall rooms, and training all applicable Housing staff in the system’s operation.  Supervise the permanent and student employees of the Housing and Residence Life front office, training, directing work, coordinating workflow, determining priorities, and developing office policies and procedures.  Provide program support to all divisions of the Housing and Residence Life operation, and collaborate with other University units to recruit and retain students in the residence halls.  Complete Administrative duties that contribute to the effective operation of the department.  Coordinate marketing activities that recruit students into on-campus living.

THE UNIT: The unit of Housing and Residence Life consists of 26 staff members serving just under 4000 residence hall students in 13 residence halls.
