Chemistry and Biochemistry: Visiting Assistant Professor--Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time, one-year instructional position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2022-2023 academic year, to begin on August 22, 2022. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in Biochemistry and General Chemistry. This is a one-year, non-renewable position with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, with some benefits including health insurance.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned PhD degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or closely related field from an accredited institution by 6/1/2022 is required. One year of college chemistry teaching experience, at or beyond the graduate assistant level, is the minimum requirement. More extensive teaching experience is considered an asset. Administrative and leadership roles related to teaching, as all as post-doctoral work in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical education, are also considered assets.
DUTIES: The successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses in Biochemistry and General Chemistry as assigned. The candidate will be committed to excellence in undergraduate instruction and embrace the university’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UW-Eau Claire has 16 full-time faculty and instructional staff members, and is ACS-approved, offering BS degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Chemistry with Business Emphasis. The Department prepares graduates for successful careers in many fields, including industry, government, health care professions, and education. To this end, we provide high-quality undergraduate instruction in the chemical sciences through a combination of coursework and faculty-student collaborative research.
