Construction Project Coordinator

A full-time academic staff position is available in Facilities beginning April 9, 2022. The working title for this assignment is Construction Project Coordinator with an official title of Construction Project Manager.  This is a fixed term assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. The expected hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience. Under general supervision of the Construction Project Manager and Campus Planner, this position is responsible for estimating and coordinating campus construction projects with contractors, vendors, and manufacturers. This position will be involved in all phases of projects including initial planning, implementation and close-out.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction or related field or 3 or more years of experience in commercial construction project management
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience estimating costs
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office
  • (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • read and interpret blueprints/plans
    • effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
    • walk and stand for long intervals while on construction site inspections
    • critically think and analyze information or data to resolve problems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in the use of computer software
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Project,
  • Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

DUTIES:

  • Development and refining of project estimating processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage “in-house”, DFDM and contracted maintenance and repairs including,
  • but not limited to:
    • documentation, development and collation
    • stakeholder communication,
    • inspection tours of current projects on a daily basis,
    • feasibility research and analysis,
    • scheduling planning, progress and close-out meetings,
    • assessing work progression, compliance to specifications, quality of workmanship, and completion of project details,
    • reviewing the scope of work with contractors and vendors
    • analyzing estimated vs. actual cost comparisons of projects,
    • determining vendor and supply availability
    • coordinating and conducting annual maintenance inspections and/or repairs
    • communicating campus regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • organization of plan room, scanning and uploading documents to SharePoint
    • assist Campus Planner and Construction Project Manager with duties as assigned.
