Integrated Marketing and Communications: Marketing Specialist


A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Integrated Marketing and Communications beginning in January 2022. The official and working titles for this assignment is Marketing Specialist.  This is a renewable assignment.  The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Demonstrated ability to write copy for digital platforms; proven experience in SEO and inbound marketing. Required are excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to think strategically, as well as meet deadlines for multiple projects; demonstrated ability to write copy for multi-channel delivery (web, print, email, events).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Demonstrated experience in leading and executing marketing campaigns from concept to completion, knowledge of SEO, experience working in a complex organization such as higher education or healthcare; demonstrated success in implementing web communication strategy and digital marketing campaigns; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.


  • Reporting to the associate director of IMC, this position supports UW-Eau Claire's strategic marketing initiatives for student recruitment, retention, and reputation on the university website.
  • Along with other team members, participate in meetings with university faculty and staff, campus colleagues and administration, to determine the academic distinctions and student experiences that distinguish UW-Eau Claire from other universities and to advance the reputation of UW-Eau Claire.
  • Write content for multichannel delivery to prospective students, internal audiences, influencers, alumni and friends, with emphasis on top-level web pages.
  • Assist with ongoing search engine optimization of web pages.
  • Work with photo liaisons in IMC to secure photo and video assets for priority messages of the university.
  • Use analytics to evaluate work according to key performance indicators and to inform ongoing web strategies, including web platforms and related marketing technology.
  • Help educate colleagues across campus on best practices for communicating the lifetime benefit and value of a UW- Eau Claire degree, and digital marketing and communication strategies.

THE UNIT: The unit of Integrated Marketing and Communications consists of 24 staff members.
