Data and Technology Services Representative

A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Continuing Education, beginning March 2022. The working title for this assignment is Data and Technology Services Representative, with an official title in the IT Business Analyst title series. This is a renewable assignment. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2-3 years’ experience in information systems, computer science, or related field.
  • Prior experience with customer relationship management software.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of operating and database issues experience.
  • Problem solving skills, business acumen, professional judgment, and discretion.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications technology.
  • Ability to learn new systems, software, and processes quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and e-mail. communication skills and an ability to deliver technical information effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to prioritize work, and manage projects under deadline pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Work well independently and as part of a diverse team while remaining adaptable and flexible to different situations and changes and work under pressure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with UW-Eau Claire or other UW System campus administrative procedures including educational principles and regulations. (Ex. FERPA, CampS, WISER, Shop UW+, BP Logix)
  • Ability to understand data relationships, data structure, query language, and data manipulation.
  • Working knowledge Ungerboeck database.
  • Prior knowledge of online learning platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL (Standard Query Language) and programming.
  • Basic knowledge of PCI Compliance Standards.
  • Familiarity with principles of continuous process improvement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

SUMMARY: The Data and Technology Services Representative provides maintenance, analysis, and implementation of all Continuing Education unit database applications and online learning platforms, as well as training support to CE staff. This position works closely with other functional areas of the unit to gain cross-functional knowledge that will allow for optimizing business processes, and to ensure efficiency in the delivery of customer service and sales strategies. This position oversees online learning platforms, resources and tools, and operates the database that includes, but is not limited to: registration, credit and CEU tracking, marketing, customer relations management, accounting/finance, and event management for the units continuing education programming and events. Major responsibilities include: database support and troubleshooting, design and implementation of registration templates and builds, design and implementation of unit processes using the unit database, CE technology management, oversight of online learning platforms, implementation of email marketing services and automation platforms, and training of CE unit staff. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs technical administrative functions of database systems to track courses/events, registrations, attendees, customer/student information, credit hours, finances, support workflows, and interact with the department website.
  • Assists with upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance of database in collaboration with vendor and serves as unit lead in testing for database functionality.
  • Creates basic queries and reports as necessary for reporting or exporting.
  • Conducts and analyzes audit reports to ensure processes sustain data integrity and applies controls to safeguard accuracy of data in the creation and maintenance of continuing education record.
  • Work with users in daily operations to troubleshoot and resolve problems with database solutions.
  • Act as primary liaison with database and platform vendors and campus technology services in providing technical support and training to the CE unit.
  • Study and provide recommendations on database, technology, and online learning platform tools, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Communicates, trains, and assists end users on database functionality and changes due to upgrades.
  • Train CE staff on use of the database, virtual learning platforms, technology, and information flow.
  • Develop and maintain written instructions on system procedures and business processes.
  • Participate in CE process-improvement efforts.
  • Support registration area in entering registrations and providing customer service as needed.
  • Understands systemic implications of decisions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by UWEC-CE Assistant Director.
