Political Science: Political Research Institute Survey Center Coordinator

A full-time, professional academic staff position is available within the Menard Center for Constitutional Studies in the Department of Political Science starting January 15, 2022. The working title of this position is the Political Research Institute Survey Center Coordinator, with an official title of Administrative Manager. The center seeks a dynamic candidate who is committed to excellence in promoting research and education with a strong background in survey design and survey center management. This is an academic staff, renewable position, contingent on performance.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Political Science or a related field with demonstrated knowledge of and experience in both qualitative and quantitative public opinion research.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and meet goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a cohesive member of a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A master’s degree in Political Science or a related field.
  • Experience developing survey instruments and survey samples for regional and national surveys
  • Experience with survey design and sampling software
  • Experience with survey data analysis and report writing
  • Previous experience working with students of diverse backgrounds such as students of color, nontraditional students, veterans, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing cooperative relationships with faculty and staff.

DUTIES:

  • Work with the director to design the center spaces and make recommendations for software purchases
  • Hire and manage student workers in the call center.
  • Develop a center activity plan in accordance with specifications from the director and funding limitations; oversee daily operations, coordinate activities, and assist in the determination of priorities.
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, and records on center projects, progress, status, or other special reports.
  • Prepare or assist in proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
  • Provide assistance and information to faculty, staff, students, and others regarding center research and projects.
  • Supervise other undergraduate student employees and interns.
  • Recruit internal and external partners interested in gathering public opinion data
  • Represent center in public relations/liaison capacity on matters, including promotion, relating to the center’s research and projects.
  • Evaluate center activities for effectiveness and develop improved methods.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director of the Political Research Institute.

THE UNIT: The Political Research Institute is housed within the Political Science department.
