Professional Academic Staff position in Counseling Services with the title of Counselor/Group Coordinator is available beginning August 2021. This is an 82% fixed term annual renewable position, and the position is full time from August through May (during the academic year.)
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family therapy, or closely related field required from a regionally accredited institution. Considerable clinical experience facilitating general process groups and psycho-educational workshops is required. Supervised internship or work experience in university counseling center, mental health agency, or related professional setting. Experience conducting brief therapy, outreach, and clinical supervision. Required to be licensed within the state of Wisconsin within 1 year of starting the position; preference for clinician who has supervised the clinical work of Master’s level interns or doctoral candidates; preference for experience in a multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing outreach and clinical services to historically underrepresented populations will be considered an asset. The Counselor/Group Coordinator is responsible for;
- Providing individual, group, couples therapy, as well as crisis intervention counseling services to university students within a brief treatment model.
- Coordinate the group therapy program, which involves scheduling the groups, deciding group offerings, assigning facilitators, conducting trainings, and leading the discussion on groups during the weekly staff meeting
- Assist in the goal of better meeting the needs of underrepresented students
- Providing Consultation services to faculty and staff
- Provide outreach to campus organizations and classes to inform students about personal development and mental health concerns.
- Supervise/train graduate student practicum/interns.
- Assume other duties as requested by the director, as appropriate.
The Counseling Services unit is a part of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion & Student Affairs Division at UWEC and is overseen by the Dean of Students. Counseling Services works closely with the Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services and other student support units to provide integrated care for our clients.
