Early Childhood Teacher - Children's Nature Academy

A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Children’s Nature Academy, beginning November, 2020. The working title for this assignment is Early Childhood Teacher with an official title in the Student Service Specialist title series. This is a renewable assignment that is expected to continue based on performance.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a Related Field (consistent with the requirements of the NECPA, , current cpr / first aid, a registry certificate from the Wisconsin Early Childhood Registry.

 Contingency: Must maintain provide proof of required trainings mandated by the state of Wisconsin, the program’s accreditation, and the Department of Children and Families.

 DUTIES:

*Lesson planning and assessment

*Maintaining required paperwork

 *Maintaining learning environment in keeping with the standards of accreditation and licensing

 *Managing children’s behaviors through positive guidance that is developmentally appropriate

*Working collaboratively with teachers throughout the facility *Facilitating learning through curriculum, including nature experiences. *Mentoring UWEC and CVTC student assistants, practicum students, interns, and other adult learners.

*Communicating with families, staff and administration.

THE UNIT: The unit of the Children’s Nature consists of 23 staff members.  The Children’s Nature Academy is part of the Department of Finance and Administration.  It is located on a Property, called the Priory, and is approximately three miles from campus.  The program prides itself on providing quality care for children, a supportive environment for families and supports UWEC Student parent and the general UWEC community.  The beautiful 112 acre property on which the program is located is an asset to the program’s nature-inspired curriculum.
